All Northwestern students who are unable to provide proof
of health insurance coverage are required to enroll in the
University Student Hospitalization Plan. The Health Insurance
Assistance Program is designed to help alleviate the
additional cost of this required coverage for undergraduate
students with high demonstrated financial need. Financial
aid recipients who are required to enroll in the University
Student Hospitalization Plan may be eligible to receive additional
financial assistance to cover the plan costs.
|
|
To be considered for this additional assistance for the
2007-08 academic year, you must have a total Estimated Family
Contribution of $5000 or less as indicated on your most
recent financial aid award announcement. If you feel that
you qualify, please complete the Health Insurance Assistance
Request Form and submit it to the Office of Financial Aid
either prior to or during the fall quarter of the academic
year for which you would like to be considered. (Requests
submitted during winter or spring terms may also be considered,
but the insurance charge is assessed during fall term.)
|
|
If your assistance request is granted, your financial aid
award will be increased by the cost of the University Student
Hospitalization Plan ($2,088 for 2007-08), and this credit
will offset the Plan charge on your invoice. This increased
assistance may be in the form of a scholarship or loan,
depending upon availability of funds. Please note that any
additional assistance granted is contingent upon Plan enrollment.
